I found this idea on Pinterest and thought, “How cool!” Father’s Day was approaching and this was my chance to run with this fun idea. I am not a professional photographer but absolutely love taking pictures. I am a “work in process” in this field.
I had my children wake up early that morning and dress in clothes with a pop of color. We headed outside to the driveway where my daughter, who is the artist in the family, began drawing our message. She drew fun balloons and the date so we can look back in time and know exactly the year this “work of art” took place. The children placed themselves on the ground as they wished. My daughter held her arm to give the impression she was holding the balloons in her hand. Love it! I have to say, “My son was a little shy about this as he felt it was a too babyish but he was a good sport and did it for his Mom, anyhow.” He decided to be “cool” and look like he was chillin. I will probably never get him to do this again, so get it done while they are young!
I positioned a tall ladder directly in front of the children so I was looking straight down at them with my camera. The lighting was tricky because we have many pine trees next to the driveway and the shade was interfering with capturing the perfect photo. We decided to keep my husband busy until the sun moved just enough to snap a good photo. I was surprised how many shots it took to get this completed but it was worth it.
My husband was tickled pink we took the time to do something special and I will always have this photo to look back on when my children were young.
Make a beautiful memory for your family or friends. Go ahead and chalk it up!
